Abatacept

Abatacept is a fusion protein containing the extracellular domain of human cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen linked to a portion of human immunoglobulin G. It is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Abatacept inhibits T lymphocyte cell activation by binding to CD80 and CD86, blocking interactions with CD28. The activation of T lymphocytes implicated in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis.
